NATIONAL BOARD OF EXAMINATIONS IN MEDICAL SCIENCES (NBEMS)

National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) was established in 1975 by the Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare with the prime objective of improving the quality of Medical Education by establishing high and uniform standards of postgraduate examinations in modern medicine on All India basis. NBEMS conducts post graduate and post-doctoral examinations in approved disciplines leading to the award of Diplomate of National Board (DNB), Doctorate of National Board (DrNB) and Fellow of National Board (FNB).

Amala was accredited by National Board of Examinations during the year 1985 itself. Currently institution is offering two super specialty courses namely:

1. Doctorate of National Board (DrNB) in Medical Gastroenterology (Two seats per year)

2. Doctorate of National Board (DrNB) in Neurology (Two seats per year)

The post MD/DNB super speciality degree - DrNB awarded by NBE on successful completion of the three year residency is equivalent to DM.

Selection of process: The counseling for Super Specialty Courses for DrNB seats (Super Specialty seats) is done by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India for the candidates, who qualifies National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Super Specialty courses (NEET SS)*.
