The Department is fully equipped and functional with four units. The highly experienced physicians in Amala intensely examine the patients and make preliminary diagnosis. High-priority treatment is started with the intention of holistic cure. The department collaborates with allied specialties of Dermatology, Radiology, Psychiatry, super-specialties of Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Pulmonology, making use of the services of experts in these departments, if a medical condition needs advanced treatment or advice.
The facilities are available on all working days except Sundays and public holidays, from 8.00am to 4.00pm Patient centered service is the goal of our outpatient facility. We provide timely and structured treatment for each patient attending our OP.
The In-patient facility is managed by efficient Nursing staff, who are trained working together with experienced doctors providing holistic treatment to individual patients.

The department also offers a variety of specialized clinics and services to address specific medical conditions such as Critical Care, Geriatrics, Diabetes Clinic etc.
A well-structured teaching program for Undergraduates (UG) and Post-graduate (PG) students is a unique strength of the department and is among the best. Apart from theory classes, the 100 Undergraduates who enter the clinical side every year from the third semester onwards are rotated in various units for system-based learning, to develop sound communication skills, and capacity building to manage common medical disorders.
The Post Graduate teaching program started in 2011 with 2 seats per year, which has now increased to 6 seats per year, since 2021. PG teaching focuses on imparting clinical skills, hands-on experience in managing a variety of complex and critical cases under the close supervision of the faculty.
Emphasis is laid on practice of evidence-based medicine through seminars, topic reviews, and presentations in the journal club.
