PAEDIATRICS

Department has 60 bedded ward for in-patients. State-of-art Level III NICU with 14 beds, equipped with ventilators and 8-bedded fully equipped PIUC with ventilators. Undertakes teaching programme for Post Graduates (MD Paediatrics, DCH), MBBS and B.Sc. Nursing students. The Department conducts community camps, school health visits and adolescent classes for high schools, plus one and two students. National days and weeks are celebrated with special innovative programmes. Days like World Health Day, World Tuberculosis Day, World Hemophilia Day, World No Tobacco Day are observed and Health Education Classes are engaged for public.

President- IMA, Thrissur (2007-2008). President, IAP, Kerala State (2009).Past President - National Neonatology Forum - Kerala Chapter. Past President of IAP - Adolescent Paediatrics Chapter (2005-2006). Life Member - IAP Adolescent Chapter, Pulmonology Chapter, Disability Chapter. RCH coordinator. Worked as Tutor in Govt.Medical College, Thrissur in 1986 to 1997. As Assistant Professor in Govt.Medical College Trivandrum, Academy of Medical Sciences Pariyaram, Govt.Medical College Thrissur from 1997 to 2003. Then worked as Associate Professor in Amala Institute of Medical Sciences Thrissur in 2004 to 2007. Now working as Professor in Amala Institute of Medical sciences Thrissur from 2008 onwards. Dr. Kalyani Pillai

MBBS from Bombay University in 1989 and received MD Paediatrics from the same in 1992.Worked as Assistant Professor in KMC Manipal from 1993 to 1994.Then as Consultant Paediatrician in A.J.Hospital Trivandrum from 1995 to 1996.From 1997 to 2003 as consultant Paediatrician in Amala Hospital. From 2003 working in Amala Medical College and is now Professor in Paediatrics. Holder of various Awards such as : 1. State IAP President's Special Award - at State Pedicon 2006 for Organizing Secretary 2nd Annual State IAP Kerala Adolescent Chapter Meet 2006. 2. Best paper (Poster) award at State Neonatology conference conducted by NNF Kerala branch, Feb. 2007. 3. Best paper (Poster) award in teaching staff category at South Zone Pediatric conference in October 2008. 4. Best paper (free paper) State IAP conference November 2010. 5. 2nd Prize for Best paper (free paper) State IAP conference November 2012.

Have been presenting Free Papers and Posters in all State IAP Conferences from 2006 to 2012 and at all National Conferences from 2008 to 2012 and have had a paper accepted for 22nd World Congress of Dermatology May 24-29 2011 at Seoul, South Korea (poster category) and International Congress for Pediatrics Aug 2013 at Melbourne, Australia. Life member of IMA and IAP and having 10 publications.

Secured awards such as 1. 'All that wheezes is not asthma' - 1st Prize in Teachers Category at State Respicon September 2012 at Trichur. 2. 'Kerpedicon 2009' - 38th Annual State IAP Conference at Kochi: 2nd prize for Teacher's Category. 3. Completed DCH in 2005. Received MD pediatrics in 2006 and DNB in 2007. Worked as Assistant Professor ICCONS Shornur from 2007 Jan to 2008 June. Dr. Jessie Jose

Completed DCH in 2003 and MD pediatrics in 2004 from Institute of Child Health, Government Medical College, Kottayam. Worked as Senior Registrar in Pediatrics, Republic of Maldives from January 2005 to December 2005. Till February 2006, worked as paediatrician at Indira Gandhi Co-operative Hospital, Kochi. Subsequently worked as Medical Officer in Paediatrics at RIPAS hospital, Brunei from December 2007 till February 2012. Currently Working as Assistant Professor in Paediatrics, Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thrissur from March 2012.
