Central Library of the Amala Institute of Medical Sciences is open to all students and staffs of the Amala Network. The vast Central Library has a huge collection of Reference Materials, Journals, Books and Magazines available for reference or loan.
Hundreds of National and International Journals are available for reference to the members. Moreover, various E-Journals are also subscribed to, which can be accessed from the Internet Room.

Central Library has an Internet Room with most modern multimedia computers, and a dedicated Internet Connectivity through Optic Fibre Connection. Members can use the Internet Room for voice and video conferencing services, and for reading various E-Journal Subscriptions. Internet facility is strictly restricted to academic activities. Only one person will be permitted at a time on a system to use internet.
There are separate Reading Rooms for Staff and Students (UG and PG). Members have access to all subscriptions from dailies to annuals, both Medical and non-medical. Various dailies, fortnightlies and monthlies related to current affairs are also available in the Reading Room.
Thousands of Books are available on Loan service to members, subject to the Rules and Regulations as published by the Librarian from time to time.
Reference Services with facilities like Photocopy, Scanning and Printing are available. Photocopy facility is restricted to the library documents only.
Service is available to departments on request from Heads of the Department.
The normal working hours of the Central Library is from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. However, the Library will be closed at 1:00 PM on Sundays and at 4:00 PM on Second Saturdays. The library will remain closed on these National and public holidays: Republic Day, Ramzan, Bakrid, Vishu, Good Friday, Easter, May 1, Independence Day, Thiruvonam, Gandhi Jayanthi, Mahanavami and Christmas.
Admission to the library is restricted to members only. Library membership is open to students, teachers, and non teaching staff of Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, teachers and research scholars of Amala Cancer Research Centre and doctors of the Amala hospital, Ayurveda and Homeo, all para medical staff and students. Membership to any other category of users can be given only with the approval of the joint director. On special request, outsiders are also admitted for a short period for reference with permission from the joint director. To become a member, a person has to fill up a prescribed application form and submit it to the librarian. Application of research scholars should be recommended both by the respective research guide and the head of the research centre. Provisional registration will not be considered for library membership. Non-teaching staff of the institution should submit their application to the librarian for membership duly recommended by the concerned HOD. All users should return books borrowed from the Library before they proceed on a long period of leave or get relieved from the institution. Long leave or relieving order will be granted only producing a 'no dues certificate' from the librarian. Members should keep the library informed of any change of address during the period of membership.
